Daft Punk, Hands, and Bodies

April 25, 2008

Apparently people like to jive to Daft Punk. Who would’ve thought? Certainly not me who only needs to hear the wicked beatz to start boogie-dancing.

Daft Punk Duo

I guess it’s official that I know a little bit more about electronic music than I initially thought. Of course, I never realized that one of my absolute favorite groups may be considered the most influential in the French House scene.

Daft Punk claims to be influenced by rock and acid house played in the United Kingdom during the early 1990s. One member specifically noted Screamadelica by Primal Scream (which I also own and love!) as a major influence. Their debut album, Homework, was an innovative synthesis of techno, house, acid house and electro styles.

In my earlier post about Techno, I linked to Ishkur’s Guide to Electronic Music (watch out for the flash intro.) I was browsing the site with Ron -the guru of the front desk where I work- and tried to show him some of Daft Punk’s stuff. Google didn’t net me a video of the duo themselves but something much, much greater.

First, there was Daft Hands:

Then there was Daft Bodies:

And then there was me:

I AM AMAZED AND IMPRESSED
